I have a 5 gallon Marina start up kit and its a slim 10 filter, which means it has two slots for the inserts instead of four like the slim 20 (which comes in this kit). Plus, there’s condensation on the lid so then you get water all over the place when taking it off. I wish the lid was attached with a hinge because you have to remove the whole lid and put it on the table or floor in order to get inside. I was fine with this because I wanted a higher quality thermostat heater. Putting that in caps so you know to purchase one separately. this starter kit DOES NOT come with a heater. trusted brand with great starter products the tank itself is fairly attractive and sturdy.

The color of the filter is not as distracting as full black. the slim filter is nice looking and easy to put together and install. I did contact the manufacturer and asked if there was a different hood available and there isn’t. Cons are no hinge on hood so you have to remove it to service the interior.
